Biography

Regina Kintana is a Texpat who now calls the Pacific Northwest home.  Her actuarial journey is definitely an atypical one.  Soon after moving to St. Louis, she began her insurance career quoting home and auto policies for an Allstate agent.  Next, she dabbled a bit in the claims space by being a commercial auto claims adjuster for Fireman’s Fund.  Around this time, she decided to give actuarial exams a try.  After passing her first exam, she landed an actuarial analyst position at Safeco Insurance, now Liberty Mutual, in Seattle, WA.  She still calls Seattle home.

A few years after earning her ACAS, Regina decided to make a career pivot to the data management space.  As an end-user of data, she was all too familiar with the data struggles many actuaries faced.  Always the helper, she decided to change her focus to improving the data landscape for other actuaries, data scientists, and analysts.  She is now the Data Management lead for the International Business Intelligence & Analytics team at Travelers.

Regina has spent much of her professional career helping Latines advance in Corporate America.  She has served on the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) Seattle board and hosted many resume writing workshops.  She also served on the CAS/SOA Joint Committee for Career Encouragement and Diversity (JCCEAD).  During her time on this committee, she connected with other Latine actuaries and with them co-founded the Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA).  Up until 2023, she served as Director of Early Career Development.  In this role, she helped launch various programs like OLA Academy, OLA @ ALPFA, OLA Virtual Career Fairs, among others.

Regina is graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and cheers on her longhorns every chance she gets.  She enjoys her single, child-free life by volunteering with OLA, learning languages, chatting it up with everyone she meets, and traveling.
