Biography

Alejandro started his actuarial career at Farmers Insurance in 2002 as an actuarial analyst; there he supported the Homeowners book of business for several states, including as product manager in 2006.  In 2007, as a new FCAS he moved to AIG as the regional actuary for the Southwest US before moving to Miami in 2009 as the regional actuary for Latin America; and then promoted to Chief Actuary Latin America in 2012 where he had responsibility for the loss reserves for the operations in 15 countries; including support for capital management.  He held this role until 2015 when he took a sabbatical from full time actuarial work.

Alejandro is in his 9th year of teaching a review course for CAS Exam 7 for The Infinite Actuary.  The course covers Advanced Reserving, Insurance Company Valuation, and Enterprise Risk Management.

He is also the CAS Ambassador to Latin America, where he organizes CAS presence at events with the actuarial organizations around the region, including Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Brazil.

Alejandro is a co-founder of the Organization of Latino Actuaries, and served as president in 2018.
